Who pays
In some markets the seller pays the listing agent and the buyer pays nothing; in others each side pays its own agent. The arrangement can also change when a buyer is introduced across borders.
Ask for the fee, the payer and the trigger in writing before viewing. A commission that becomes due on introduction is very different from one due only at completion.
Frequently asked questions
Can the agency fee be negotiated?
Often, especially for a higher-value purchase or a limited service. The agreed rate and scope should be recorded before work starts.
Is a fee still due if the seller also pays an agent?
Possibly, if you have your own agent or signed a buyer agreement. The two commissions are separate arrangements.
