Mortgage Payment Abroad Calculator

Enter the loan amount in the currency you will borrow and the rate the lender quotes. The output is the principal-and-interest payment before local fees and insurance.

Monthly payment—
Total interest over the term—
Payment as a share of gross income—

Lenders apply their own affordability and stress tests, and foreign buyers often face different terms. This is an estimate, not an offer.

What the payment includes

The figure is principal and interest only. Buildings insurance, life cover, account fees and any local mortgage duty are additional, and some lenders require them as a condition of the loan.

A fixed-rate period can end before the loan does. The payment after the fix depends on the rate at that time, so the current figure describes only the initial period.

Why the income share matters abroad

Lenders compare the payment with documented income, existing debts and living costs. A share that looks comfortable in one country can fail a stress test in another because the lender applies a higher test rate.

Foreign income, self-employment and a loan in a different currency each add documentation or reduce the amount a lender will advance. The eligibility check comes before the rate comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Does the payment include insurance and fees?

No. It covers principal and interest. Add insurance, account charges and any local mortgage tax to get the full monthly cost.

Can the rate change?

This calculator treats the rate as fixed for the term. Variable or fixed-period loans reprice, so stress the payment at a higher rate before committing.

Can a foreign buyer borrow locally?

Sometimes, but the terms differ. Residency, income currency, deposit size and the lender's own rules all affect availability.
